EDWARD JOHN EYRE HIGH SCHOOL


Established in 1968, Edward John Eyre High School (EJEHS) is the senior secondary school for Whyalla, South Australia. Whyalla is located 4 hours north of Adelaide on the Eyre Peninsula. The town has a population of 21,000 and is the largest regional centre in South Australia, just ahead of Mount Gambier.

EJEHS has strong links to industry, especially the mining and steel industries of the region. Its Pre-Industry program is one avenue to enable students to get the training required to help make them more employable by employers. The school is one of the lead-schools in the Eyre & Upper Spencer Trade School for the Future providing links to courses from all across the state.

The student cohort comes primarily from the two junior high schools of the town, and . There are approximately 500 students in Stage 1 and Stage 2 and the school offers a variety of different pathways and programs.

Edward John Eyre High School’s vision is to make education accessible to all and the school shares a collective expectation that students enrolled will actively engage with the teaching and learning program; this is strongly supported by the Governing Council and Staff.

EJEHS provides a supportive study environment for all students and a wide range of courses to suit individual needs. However, the availability of the subjects offered is subject to adequate enrolment numbers.

Facilities: Demac units used for specialist areas (eg. Music, Art, Young Mum’s program), extensive oval facilities, Trade Training Centre and Trades Schools for the Future buildings, specialist Technology, Art, Music and 北京快三 Economics areas, access to Community Recreation Centre, PE classrooms, Hall, Library and staff preparation areas, student plaza area, outdoor sport courts, gymnasium, cafeteria, Student 北京快三 Centre, facilities for the disabled including a wheelchair lift, 24-seater bus.

Sport: Knockout Cup Sport – basketball, hockey, football, netball, cricket, volleyball and soccer.

Extracurricular activities: National Competitions in various curriculum areas, Music students participate in Stage Band, students perform in a variety of events throughout the year.

Welfare and personal development: Student Support Officers, Negotiated Learning Plans and Individual Learning Plans, Community Mentoring Program, qualified School Counsellor, Student Welfare Worker, Year 11 and 12 Co-ordinators, Alternative Learning Centre, Aboriginal Education Centre, Student Mentor Program.
